What exactly is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is the international standard for creating, implementing and maintaining a company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and is applicable to any company of any size or industry.
The standard was updated in 2015 and is referred to as ISO 9001:20151.
ISO 9001 provides the requirements to be implemented for a company that wants to create all of the policies, processes, and procedures necessary to provide products and services that meet customer needs and improve customer satisfaction2.
What is a Quality Management System?
The Quality Management System, which is often referred to as a QMS, is a collection of policies, processes, procedures and records.
This collection of documentation defines the set of internal rules that govern how the company creates and delivers product or service to customers3.
What are some of the main requirements of ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is aimed at ensuring that UPP follows its set procedures and policies. Some of these procedures include work instructions, safe work procedures, sales procedures etc.
What is ISO 9001 Certification?
Certification refers to certification of a company’s Quality Management System against the ISO 9001 requirements.
A recognized certification body (www.sgs.com) will come to site and audit and approve the QMS.
The certification body will assess our procedures and policies and ensure that we are implementing these correctly.

Our SHEQ department has worked tirelessly the last few years to implement the quality management system with the process of certification commencing in November 2021 and ending with official certification on the 3rd of June 2022.
